What are the differences between a small block v8 3 speed
and the /6 3 speed manual transmissions besides the bellhousings?

MOPAR or NOCAR!

There were two 3spd transmissions available: the A903 (non syncro 1st gear) was 6cyl only and the A230 (all syncro'd) which could be had with the /6 or v8

Daliant the tranny that I am looking at is an all synchromesh unit that has a 4 1/2 inch retainer bearing and a 1'' input shaft 23 spline. Would that be correct to use on a 318?

Thanks! Yesteryearmotorcars

If it fits the bellhousing and is from an A or F body (short tailshaft) then that trans will work.

Ok!

Yes the tranny is from a 72 Duster, main case stamping is pp230 4227

Listen, I'm trying to figure out how to use this site.
When I read your message, is the little box that says QR
the best way for me to respond to someone.

I think I've been talking mostly to myself on this darn thing. LOL!!!

QR is quick reply which just scrolls you to the bottom of the thread, it doesn't send the message through cyberspace any faster, if thats what your asking. The go advanced button lets you access different letter sizes, smiley faces, and allows you to post pictures.
