Small block 360 oil leak

Ok so i just put a freshly rebuilt 360 in my duster. I fired it up for the first time and did the whole break in routine and then notice i had an oil leak from the back of the oil pan. I then pull the oil pan off, did the best i could to clean surfaces and get it back to straight as possible. Used cork gasket with rubber front and rear and used rtv black on the ends. Start the car and no leak for about a 20 min run at idle with a few revs with open headers. Then i put mufflers on the car and fire it up to hear it and about 5 minutes in i see it start to leak in the same spot. Anyone know why it keeps blowing out this rear part of the gasket. to much pressure? bad oil pan? one piece gasket maybe?
 
IF it is leaking from the rear main seal I would check the PCV system

There are several other places that could leak and LOOK like it is the rear main seal though, are you SURE that is what it was ?
 
Are you certain it is leaking from the pan? 100%?
 

I have a new rebuilt engine and had a problem with high crank case pressure.I also had several oil leaks after having it dynoed.I put a breather on the passenger side with a pvc valve on drivers side.I drove the car a couple hundred miles to make sure the rings where seated.Now i have no more leaks

Absolutely correct. This happened to me on my brand new 360. Did the cam break in routine and then drove it to a car show for the weekend which was a 400 mile round trip. Had oil leaking up into the dizzy housing and out of the small vent hole. Oil was running down the back of the engine
and all over the bellhousing and starter. I installed a good breather on one rocker cover and
a good PCV valve on the other and problem solved.
 
I just checked it out again in the daylight and the top near dis. and oil pressure thing is completely dry. the pics are kinda hard to see the leak because it only leaks when its running. thanks for the replies!

same thing I had on my trucks 360. cam plug. did you use the welch plug or the newer style Magnum one?
 
i had all the machine work done at a local shop and they are the ones who replaced all the freeze plugs and cam plug and as bad as it sounds i dont know what they put in, but i am assuming the standard stock replacement for a 78 block.
 
It most certainly could be the cam plug. My 360 leaked from there and it was a brand new rebuild as well. I had to pull the engine and bring it back to the shop for them to repair it. It sucked and I was not happy!
