Looks a little used to me. A little too much gasket staining & marks from the bolt heads for brand new. Are you sure NEVER bolted on?
 
the Gasket marks you are referring to (Thermostat housing was on then removed)Intake was set on engine.Scratches on bottom side are from being slid on a shelf.My 340 engine is still sitting on the stand so I'm pretty sure the intake wasn't bolted on.
