The pesky P0456 showed up on my '05 Ram. Of course, it's not just a loose gas cap. Decided to make a handy dandy smoke tester based on U-boob videos available.
About 2.3 ohms resistance with 24 ga TEMCo Nichrome 80 wire from Ebay.
The canister is the largest from a set of three off Amazon. The other two should work for a couple other projects I'm gonna' do or I'd just would have used a paint can. All the other stuff I had just laying around.
Drill some holes, line 'em with grommets, add the element wrapped around a wick (from tiki torch), an in and an out air supply fitting.
I used mineral oil to soak the wick and fill the can just under the element wrapped wick. The unwrapped wick ends are bent down into the mineral oil.
3-4 psi max air in and 12 volts across the heating element put out a nice stream.
Found my leak BTW.
Smoke in.......
Leak showed up from this small plastic tube. No how to get to it!
