So long, WD-40! It's been fun, but I've had it with you! (small rant)

Some time ago WD-40 changed their cans, and they went with this adjustable nozzle thingamajig. Why, I don't know.

When they first came out I bought a can, but I only got about half way through it before the pressurized gas "fizzed out" on me. In other words, I had a can about half-full of liquid, but no "pffft".

Must have been a one-off, and can't happen twice, right?

Wrong! What you see above is can #2...

But it's not just me, as I was chatting with my father during my commute home today, and he said he just had the same damn thing happen to him!

You had a good run, WD-40, but if this is how you're gonna roll, I'm done with you. ("Smart Straw", be damned!)

"Next!"

I kinda like those cans. I had a few cans lose their pressure too.
I devised a way to recharge them, works for paint cans too.

If you get the "Industrial" size (16 oz.), it still has the traditional nozzle. Or it did when I last purchased it. I got a case a few years ago. The WD-40 website still shows the traditional nozzle can. I purchased it from Amazon.

Tell me more, tell me more!
Oh boy, I figured that was coming :)
A big factor is I have a homemade air gun, a simple small ball valve reduced down and a 3/16 brake line silver soldered to it with the flair outwards.
figure out how to tear down a dead bic lighter, you want the little brass valve that`s in it. chuck the longer part in a drill press and touch a file to the ball end to get it a little smaller until it slips into the can tube you want to recharge. Set the compressor regulator to no more that 90 lbs. yeah that much, scary I know. put your version of a blow gun that will slip over that Bic valve, wrap a rag around it just in case, and open air gun a push down on can valve, listen to it equalize then retract.

Bam... you now have a recharged can so you can use the rest of the product.
If you want to go through all that ****, it does work.

one of my friends had a band
we would go to his house on a week night to watch them practice
one of the "groupies" was this girl ..he call hatfield (cause she kind of looked like jame hatfield)
she like the smell of wd40 ...used it as purfume .....ha ....never got close enough to snif

WD40 is just to loosen rusty nuts and bolts stuff. It is not for permanent lubing! Use grease, oil, silicone.
Cut up the can and use a pump spray

I sold Howes Lubricant by the gallon in the tool truck. It was a great penetrating oil. I liked it in a squirt bottle with an adjustable spray nozzle.

I've got a couple of 1/2 full cans also dead. So far the pb blaster has been good.

Similar issue with every PB Blast can I have. Loses pressurization to the point where it doesn't spray out any more.... just drizzles.
