Forget about the decent mileage. Engines like that were designed to haul around relatively light vehicles and they are light on torque compared to American designs. You would be in the boost all the time just to get around so mileage would probably be worse than with a decent small block. Maybe much worse. If you know someone with a turbo car, get in it and drag the brakes a little to simulate extra weight. You are in boost almost immediately and stay there just about all the time.I don't see anything wrong with it? yeah it's an unusual swap but it would get decent mpg and would have decent power. I was toying with the idea for my 68. Mostly because their cheap engines when you buy them from japan.

Dont get me wrong i agree with you this is kind of a goofy car but hey to each their own, anyway i dont know if you have ever messed with the supras that engine came out of but they are not a very light car by any means, curb weight of a supra with an manual trans was about 3400 lbs and that dart comes in around 3000 lbs so i am by no means an engineer but that engine may actually be a very good combo for the car although they didnt get great mileage in the first place a buddy of mine had one and got 20 ish mpg mixed city and hwy when he would stay out of it, now a decent running carbed slant will do that anyway so seems like a waste of time if your doing it for gas mileage.
