I have a 72 Dart & these things are not working.
My glove box light(bulb good)
map light(bulb good)
key light(good bulb)
horn don't blow

What do you guys think?

They are constant power coming in. I would start looking for a blown fuseable
link to start with. Take a test light and check all the feeds first. They all come
off the starter relay under the hood if I recall right.

Hears what I'm wondering, wear the horn wont blow & all wireing seems to be thear includeing the ground under the column, if horn relay was bad, would it cause any of these things not to work?

...or I am also missing the stock radio, would that have any thing to do with them?

You have a shop manual? IF not, download one fer free right here:

There are a number of good downloads there. Some of the posted links at the early top of the thread are broken, but fixed later "down."

Linkeedoo to the 72

MAP LIGHT, page 8-148. Brown wire at the map light connector should be constant hot. This goes down and wyes off and goes to cig. lighter connector to pick up power.

The map light is either grounded when you open the left door, or when you turn the map switch on. It must be grounded

KEY LIGHT as well as seat belt lamps are supplied by the time delay relay, so IT could be bad

GLOVE BOX LIGHT also gets power from the same pink supplying the map light, so if that part of the harness is dead, fuse blown, not hooked up, none of it will work

Ok, KEY LIGHT may not work because egr & fasten seat belt lamp are missing!

Ok this helps, I have posted about this on another web site a long time ago & nobody has told me wear the power comes from, I am going haft to take my cd player out & look under it at cig. lighter connector to see if its connected with it!

just to let you guys know, My cig. lighter works, but ashtray light don't, but bulb is stuck in, so it just may be blowed!

If you are going to diagnose electrical problems these items are needed to be successful: wiring diagrams for your car; volt ohm meter (VOM), and test light.

All automobile electrical devices work the same by current flowing from battery through device, and then to ground. One has to determine if current is being supplied to device (blown fuse, cut wire etc.), device is nonfunctional (burnt bulb etc.), or circuit not making good connection to ground (sheet metal of car). Some items such as dome lights are directly feed, and the switch is located on the ground side of circuit. Others such as a radio have a switch located on feed side (hot) before radio circuitry than current goes to ground. One will have to consult a wire diagram to understand how each circuit is designed to be able to test it.

Thanks everone, I found out I had the red wire going to my lighter that is post to be conected into the 2 pink wires, but one was cut off & taped by someone, so I untaped it. I did not have a conecter to go on it, so I just put it on a splice that was taped up in the red wire to lighter, now my glove box light works, key light works, but steel working on getting map light to work, I think it might be a bad switch, runed a home made test light with switch hooked to car battrey, nothing eather way.
