I'm doing a 75 318 in my 66' Barracuda as we speak. I'm using the stock 273 manifolds and its an 904 automatic with p/s and manual brakes (no assist.) and a 8.250" rear a-body axle.
I chose the TTI 2.5" "X" pipe dual system. Waiting for next week for it to arrive.I have a TTI 2.5" "H" pipe system on the 340 Demon and other than a drone at 2500rpm it has been fantastic.

Try 340 hipo manifolds, then dakota's, then shorties then dougs.
Get a Mini starter.
I ended up with Dougs in my 64, along with 2.5 pipes a cross pipe and a pair of dynomax VT drone free
