I bought a new speedometer cable for my '70 Duster and it seems like I'm missing something between where it hooks up to the drive pinion on the trans. Anybody have a picture of how it goes? The threaded part of the pinion drive is much bigger than the threaded nut on the end of the speedo cable; is there a separate adapter that threads onto the pinion and has a smaller end to screw the cable onto?

Can you shoot us a pic of what you have? What is the part no. of your new cable? What did your old cable look like?
There was no adapter needed on my '72, I"m thinking you got the wrong part.

Here is what should be on the trans.

They gave you the wrong cable. It happened to me too. I can't remember what cable I ended up getting, but it was about 2 feet too long, it had the right ends on it so I made it work. It was at Napa.

OK thanks guys I found the old retaining nut and it is way bigger, O'Reilly did give me the wrong cable. Looks like I'll be taking this one back and checking NAPA...
