Speedometer Cable

I have a 74 dart that is missing the speedometer cable and I've purchased a new one. My question, I seem to remember that there is some type of clip that holds the cable to the back of the cluster, is this correct or does the cable end just slip onto the back of the speedo in the cluster?

yes..there is a plastic clip on the back of the speedometer...

to get the old one out...you will need to press down on the clip...finger..screw drivers..

and make sure you get the new one in far enough to engage cllip...

just changed one out in 72 duster two months ago...

I guess that the end of the cable that attaches to the speedo has the clip on it correct?

yes..and the other eng screws on to the transmission
