hi Guys,

I have an Australia version of the A-Body.

I am doing a transmission conversion and need to work out the gears for the speedometer.

What I can't seem to find the answer to is how many revolutions per mile do the speedometers work on?

My dashboard is pretty much identical to that of the Phoenix Valiant so I guess the internals would be the same too.

From what I have read, generally speaking, most speedos work on 1000 Revs per mile, but I haven't found what it actually is for the Valiant. Is anyone able to assist here?

i went and looked it up. american older cars use 1000 turns per mile on the speedo cable trans output. i think this is a standard for american car, the old ones. dont know about the new ones. on my 2001 dak the computer gets it signal from the rear axle shaft. so when i had a 4.1 gear put in i didnt need to make any changes.
