Speedometer

I took the /6 and trans out of my 70 dart, i put in a 318 with 904, they came out of an 85 5th Ave. i had to take the speedometer out of the /6 trans and put it in the 904 i have in there now so the speedometer cable would screw in to it, my question is, how do i know if the gears match up? there are some lines on the trans and on the speedo, how do i tell which lines match up if any?

There should be numbers by the lines, like 26-28 and so on you put it on the line where the mumbers match, the number of teeth on your speedodemter gear,If the gears are differnt teeth you'll need to use the one that was in your six trans. to keep your speedodemter correct
