I need to remove the pin that holds the spider gears and axles inside the rear end. It's an 8.25 rear end. The bolt that locks the pin in place was broken bu I managed to get the bolt out. Now that the bolt is out is the pin removal as easy as tapping it with a hammer. I gave it a little tap but it didn't pop out. I know it's free because it has rotated a little. Is there anything else holding it in place other than the bolt I removed? I don't want to ruin it or cause damage. Did I miss something?

Did you get the whole thing out? there's about an inch after the threaded part of the bolt.

The pin retaining bolts are notorious for breaking. You probably have to fish the rest out with a magnet.

I think I got the entire bolt out. The reason I think so is because the pin pivots or twists. If it turns that means the bolt is not stopping it. If I confirm that the bolt is out, should the pin just push through or is there something else that would prevent it from sliding out. It seems to be binding or difficult to push out.

If you're sure that all the bolt is out then try taping the pin out. The pinion gears or washers my have worn a lip onto the pin and just needs to be forced through.

If you can rotate the pin then you probably have the whole lock bolt out. The pin probably has a burr on it so its going to need a little persuasion with a hammer and drift, just drive it out lock pin side first.
