Looking to Redo the front split bench seat in a 73 Sport Dart as I picked up a set of Legendary covers at Carlisle this year. I pulled the existing cover off of the drivers seat back and the foam for the seat backs needs some repair, but overall is in tact. I planned on purchasing some high density foam to cut and glue what is necessary to cover the holes and and splits in the existing foam. I also planned to add a 1/2 inch of new foam over all of the existing foam for a bit more padding. Has anyone ever done this / will the new covers have enough stretch for additional foam ? The passenger side has not been uncovered, but there is only one rip in the cover showing minimal damage to the foam on that side, so I anticipate not having to replace anything on that side but will add additional 1/2 inch foam if the cover will fit. I understand that new covers should be applied after baking in the sun for a day.
Does steaming the foam add any life back into it ?
