Spotted on our walk

-
Lori spotted this beauty while taking Piper out for our walk this morning. We didn't know if it had a talon issue or a meal. It was a meal!

That's a great video and a beautiful bird. It is sure an Osprey.

That's really cool! Thank for posting!

Our "resident" red tail hawks came back again this year, but we haven't gotten any pictures or videos, as we don't want to bother them in case there are eggs in their nest. (Ha! Our tree, but their nest!) If past years are any indicator, if/when the babies hatch we'll certainly hear them, and I'll try to get some pics and/or video at that time.

Thanks guys! It was an awesome moment for sure! It definitely wasn't shy lol! Probably eyeing Piper up for dessert lol.
Funny thing last night we were out walking Piper by the river and Lori and I spotted something floating, thinking it was a branch. Took a closer look and it was a raccoon "swimming" like a mudda fudda aiming for shore! Keep in mind the dam is wide open and river is flowing 370cms!! He got close enough to the boardwalk it was only a foot deep, but moving fast! It all happened too fast I couldn't get a stick to help, or the phone out for video lol. Hope he got to shore. He must have been tuckered the river is pretty damned wide(200-300 ft). The dam and OPG was about 1000 ft downstream! :canada:

Very neat. Found a dead red tail hawk in my woods a couple weeks back. Guessing one of my local barred or great horned owls took him out. Love hunting in the fall and listening to them call back and forth

cool video. captured this while walking the dog

That’s a beauty! Now not trying to hijack but last year we were sat in our lounge when we heard a massive bang on the window, I looked up and saw this on the window which is the shape of a pigeon,

you can see the wings and the tail, then I looked outside and saw this, I think it was a Sparrowhawk. Just before I took these pictures the pigeon was alive, then the hawk stabbed it twice in the chest with his beak and it died within seconds.

So we worked out the pigeon had been sat on the telephone wire with his buddy about 20metre away and this hawk just came in on a dive and took him off the wire straight into our window, the wire was still bouncing and the other pigeon looked like he was thinking “wtf?”

That's very cool! He meant business!!
Luckily we can capture these moments with the technology today

Yeah instead of, 9Honey where’s the camera?” “The what?” “The camera!” “What do you want the camera for?” “I just need it!” “Well I think it’s in the box on top of the fridge” “What the hells it doing in there?” “You put it there” “Oh yeah I did, right let’s film that bird, oh **** it’s gone!”

Too true!

Great video, Steve.
Last year I was fishing with my buddy on the north end of Cayuga Lake near the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge. We didn't catch squat, but the Ospreys were putting on a show. That was fun to watch.

Here's what I think is a Sharp-shinned Hawk with a Downey Woodpecker in its talon. I took the picture from my kitchen window.

We've had a couple nice days. We'll have to plan a meetup soon so I can get your parts to you.
Lots of snow this winter, but we had some good rain and washed the salt away off the roads. I always had chores to do on the nice days, so the Barracuda stayed in the garage. Then we got more snow and salt and the cycle started over again. :BangHead:

It was a beauty day here until around 7, now lightning and rain galore lol. Yes my rotation is every 5 weeks I have at least a week off. A few days off sprinkled in between. Would be nice to drive cuda down. Gotta get grills done and in(almost there lol). Then really should put at least 2 new rear tires on lol. I think the snow is done but cool nights are still here.
The real season starts tomorrow! :canada: :usflag:
