Stalling

I have a 68 Dodge dart with a big block My alt wire broke and sparked I lose all power i repared the wire and after 20mins the power came back Nowit not showing that it charging on the guage and it stalls when i put it in gear oe come to a stop with it in gear The alt is charging and the battery is good anyone have Idea

I'm no professional, but kinda sounds like a voltage regulator. I'm sure others will post up some more sound advise.
