What do you guys think of this for running a magnum 5.9.

Wish I knew what all that stuff was and what they are talking about. It's all Chinese to me.
 
Not very knowledgeable on these, but as far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as a "stand alone" ECU. Any ECU needs many input sensors to function. What sensors are needed? Are they compatible with this ECU? Are parameters adjustable? This is new and untested. Why aren't race teams using it?

I think stand alone just means it doesn’t rely on other modules like an ABS or Body computer. Not that it doesn’t need sensors.
 
Been around for awhile. Years ago I was thinking about using their solder it yourself kit to build a batch fire wasted spark system for my 360. Dropbear is their newest, capable of alot more
 
Sounds capable. I had never heard of Speeduino until I bought a rusEFI (www.rusefi.com) UAEFI unit for my '95 Jeep with a 4.6 stroker based on the 4.0 block and AMC 258 crank. After purchasing the UAEFI, I scoured the forum, main site, and their github stuff. That's when I got introduced to Speeduino. Their take is the rusEFI blows away Speeduino. I paid around $200 for my UAEFI, and so far I'm happy. Just a counter thought. Maybe check out the rusEFI Proteus (8-cylinder capable) before making a final decision.
 
i wouldn't consider running someone's home brew project engine management system unless you already have pretty significant experience fielding EMS's. be prepared for bugs and general unreliability. the saying "you get what you pay" is true for everything and is especially prudent for engine management. engine management is not trivial and if you want something that just works and works reliably, i'd highly recommend a more tried a trued commercial off the shelf solution. basically any of the recognizable brand names out there - especially ones that offer a warranty and technical support and have more than just a small handful of users and experienced tuners.
 
the rusEFI stuff is interesting. seems a tad bit more legit than some others out there. my background is in engine management system development and the stuff i developed is no longer being made so i'm in the market for a replacement system. it's cheap enough to maybe consider trying. oh and it users tunerstudio so they just completely offloaded the UI to something that's actually pretty decent. following the megasquirt strategy. make hw and control fw and leave the sw to someone else. that works.

When I do our 69 Dart GT conv. I'm going to install a Magnum beer keg injection system on the numbers matching 273, and get Flyin Ryan to do the tune.

My Magnum swap works really well for me (5.9 swap). I'm running OBD1 so no tuning possible, but I'm OK with that. For now!
Making the EFI work on an LA engine should be easy, you'll just have to figure out something for the intake manifold.
 
Repro (sad as they are) Magnum heads on the 273. If the 1.92 valves are too big for the 273 bore, I'll either notch the block or put valve seats in the heads to step back to either 1.88 or 1.78 intake valves. I have the full OBD2 EFI setup out of a Durango with a 5.2, including the full underhood harness and ECU.

fwiw, i'm going to be running one of the systems i used to develop initially on my 5.2 just to proof out the setup but i'm sorta loosely planning on trying multiple different EMS's just to try different systems. these engines are very basic so don't really need an ECU with a ton of extra capability but i've toyed with the idea of adapting a hemi dbw throttle and adding knock feedback and such. i won't develop a kit per se but i will outline how i integrate any system and can provide a calibration after tuning.

For the price, try the rusEFI Proteus, which can handle 8 cylinders. I messed with MegaSquirt 3, MOTEC, and Link PC G2 in the past. The rusEFI blows those units away. I assume you already have the upgraded Tuner Studio, which should make it even better.
 
I'm wondering how much of that is just rebadged megasquirt stuff. Remember when Megasquirt sold you a kit and you soldered it all together?

I bought the HP Tuners for mine. I need to do that. You do it first and I'll copy you.
