Thanks and yes having a solid car made life a lot easier. I wouldn’t of bought it if it wasn’t the B5 blue or needed patches. I gave $3600 for the car so I figured it was a good deal.

Deer season is over so back to working on the dart. We undercoated the rear half and got the gas tank installed. We will do the gas lines and brake lines next and then put in the rear end. It’s easier to put that stuff in before the rear end gets installed. I'm using the 1970 vented gas filler tube and a unvented 1968-1970 gas tank instead of the 1972 charcoal canister set up the car originally had. I think it will look a lot cleaner and be simpler. I used a 1969 filler tube since that’s all I could find online new. It’s the same as the 1970 tube except the vent line is a little different and needs bent a little more to fit. I may switch it out if I find a nice used 1970 vent line. The 18-gallon 1968-1970 fuel tank was a pain to get all lined up and hard to make seal in the trunk floor seal. I ended up having to install the filler tube and the floor seal first and then the tank. It was the only way to get it to line up and not bind anywhere. Also, you have to have the trunk floor seals collar going in towards the tank so it can be at the correct angle to seal. This is how the original seal was too which you can see it laying against the back wall in the one picture I posted of the installed tank.

I accidentally scraped my rear leaf spring hanger brackets. I ordered some new ones from Mancini Racing and when I received them, they weren’t powder coated and were just spot welded together. Nothing at all like the picture in their ad. So, I got them all welded up and sprayed some cold galv. on them. I will paint them black after it cures. Hopefully I can get the rear axle installed in the next week or so. The holidays have slowed me down again along with the blizzard we had.

I got the rear spring hangers painted so one step closer to getting the rear axle installed. A lot of messing around but I’m thinking these will be stronger than my original ones I accidentally scrapped. All of the other parts are new so these might as well be too.

We got the rear axle installed in the car today after work. I also finished the majority of the undercoating and installed the brake lines on the axle too. You can see the difference with the 1/2” offset kit installed.

Nice, looking forward to your wheel and tire selection.

I’m doing steelies painted body color and poverty hub caps. 15x6”with 3 1/4“ back spacing in the front and 15x8” in the rear with 5 3/8” back spacing. Tires I’m thinking Mickey Thompson sportsman’s 205-60R-15 in the front and 255-60R-15 in the back.

We got some more work done to the car. We installed the vinyl top and polished up some trim and got it on. I will have to polish up more and then get the rest on. We also installed the gas lines, brake lines, emergency brake cables and the rear shocks. I clear coated the lines so they won’t rust. I didn’t think it was worth the extra money for the stainless steel lines and they are always a pain to get seated.

Better than factory cause you did it with pride and care.
