Well, I finally started on getting ready to install a vinyl top.

The original po had removed the old one & rattle canned primer on the top.

I resanded down the top and used some "Rust Encapsulator" Paint into the tiny rusty surface holes that had started.

I've used "Rust Encapsulator" from Eastwood on a lot of projects.

Kills rust dead!!

I was fortunate that there were no rust through holes. Top is very solid as is the whole car.

I also put a skim coat over the factory quarter panel seams.

I finished with 2 coats of 2K Primer.

I will scuff up the top one more time with 220 grit paper before installing the vinyl.

Now, waiting for the top to arrived from "Kee Auto Top"

Here's some pics of my progress. I'll keep updating as I go......

Got ahead of myself and went and finished the outside paint, trim & chrome.

The only big expense was getting re-chrome bumpers, new tires & the PPG Paint & materials.

The rest of the work was in the detailing.......

Thank goodness this is a 37,000 mile car and didn't need much body work at all.

Even all the weather stripping, except the trunk rubber, is in great condition.

Interior is near perfect & all I have to do is install new carpet & I'm done.

Easiest on frame restore I've ever done.

Turned out to be a clean little 6 cyl car.

Now to decide if I want to keep it or not.........

I was really hoping for detailed pics of the vinyl roof install. Did you take any?

No, I didn't take pics of the top other than what you see.

This was my 2nd top and went easy.

You can use this link as a guide. http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/body/mopp_0812_vinyl_top_installation/viewall.html

The idea is to take your time.

It's not that hard to do. The hardest part for me was the prep work in getting the top ready.

I used 3M spray....Summit had the best price & I used 3 cans. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TRM-8090/

That looks really nice. Thank you for the links... I want to do white on my '67, but that's about the last thing to be done.
