starter noise

Brand new mopar mini starter on a stroked 360 and it makes a clicking sound. My engine builder/installer tells me they have had problems with this mini starter making noise. It seems to turn quickly and starts fine. Ugly noise considering all the $$$$ I have in this thing. The flexplate is brand new and I am concerned the starter is chewing it up. The builder says they have shimmed it and it is working properly and they cant understand why it is making the noise. Any suggestions?

I'd send it back as defective. My mopar starter doesn't make any odd noises. And I haven't heard that they have a tendency to either. I would pull it out and bench test it to see if it makes the noise then to. And go from there.

i got a mini from the junk yard it works great i would pull it make sure there is no problem

I try to understand why everyone goes and buys the expensive starters from Jegs and Summit. I would buy the magnum starter from my local Napa and call it quits. They are just about the same starter and less expensive. They also have a warrenty and you can find one anywhere.

Does it work with the TTI header? I can only use a mini with that header.
