I just installed a 440 4 speed in my 70 Dart. Most everything is done, went to put the starter on and the snout of the starter is to long. When i went to bolt it on, it goes in and hits the back of the bellhousing. It needs to go another 1/2" to 5/8" farther. It is a #2468372 casting bellhousing. I just have a stock style starter. What gives? Do i need to make a spacer plate? Do they have a long and a short snout starter. Thanks in advance.

????? All gear reduction Mopar starters are the same, they fit slants, small blocks, and big blocks. Only thing they are not used on is some trucks, industrial, and 426 era hemis.

What is the bellhousing off of?
