Starter stuttering?

My Hemi does 2 lurches on the starter, and then cranks normally on the 3rd "hit" while the key is being held to start. Anyone else have a similar situation? or insight?

Can you disable the ignition and try it? If it does it with no ignition, it just about has to be a starter system related issue, bad starter, gear, rough/ damaged teeth on the ring or starter, bad connectionin the internal solenoid connections, cables or start relay if you are using one.

Whos wiring harness are you using? We had the exact same issue, among many others with this harness. We replaced the relay and that took care of it.
