Staying fit at any age.

I went to inflammation focus

Dairy, gluten ...HUGE difference in how I felt.

I still have my coffee and Bourbon vices but diet wise I just went to eating the best, real version of what I like. No added sugar
So cut dairy? I probably should, as my gall bladder is trashed.

I have learned alcohol is the worst for loosing weight.
For me and I believe most men it instantly goes to the waist !
I've always been a beer drinker.quit for 2 and a half years, had a few bad events, and started again.. about ready to give it up. Even when I wasn't drinking, I still slammed some Genesse N/As after eating termite poo and sawdust! Lol

I'm 50 also, hung drywall and did framing ( res and comm) for years. Dr did say that don't mean squat. Cardio, he said. Full body, like jogging, bicycle, swimming. Diet sucks, HPB and Tachycardia. You all sound like great inspiration! Thanks!
Drywall ! Lol
Well I started doing drywall in 89.

Anything that can be done with drywall, most likely I have done !
I rarely do it anymore.
The other day I was hanging a lid 5/8 12 '
I did have a lift .
You still have to pick the sheet up and put it on the lift.
So as I was doing it, I thought I'm too old for this !
Then it hit me !
When I was in late teens or early 20's .
A old salty drywall hanger who like to flip **** was razzing me.
I said well atleast I won't be doing drywall at 50 !
DOH !
In that moment I remembered my words !
Oh my be careful what you say !

You guys are talking like 50 is old. It's not really that much considering that if our generation takes care of ourselves, with medical technology and what is known about the human body, we should be living a lot longer than previous generations.

So there's a lot more miles to be had, if we stay on top of it.

Well princess,
It is all perspective!
At 20 35 seems old , ect ect.
I have not been very good at looking past friday, so I never thought I'd be 50 !
I don't care now.
As I stated I just want to feel good !

I'm 35 and I tell my 20 year old cousins.

At 35, you don't really feel old but you feel shock that so much time flew by. ..... wasn't it just 2010....

Yep I touched my arm and it didn't feel old !
Oh that's awesome makes me happy !
I guess I'm not old.

Same year I started Framing Houses! Lol. Got into Hanging and finishing in the 90s. By the late 90s I was siding and roofing.. then I got into doors and trim, custom kitchen and bathrooms. But, some things you say, you will NEVER do again... I'm siding a 2nd story house covered in rotted T1-11! Dude, it sucks! But, it's for an elderly widow, who doesn't have much money... so it's a reminder! Lol and a kinda good deed, for sure.

So my job does help me stay in shape.
I'm a general contractor.
Mostly kitchens and bathrooms.
The only things I sub out are plumbing and electrical.
The rest I do.
I work alone.

I remember one Bitter Ol Drywall Man ( most are ) lol . He said " drywall is only good for a bad back and a black lung " I still do it too sometimes... just not like in the 90s. Not by the semi truck load! Lol

Right on. Good project management, no room or excuse for error, no payroll or reliance on people. I worked by the board, linear foot, s.f, ect for most of my life. Although, I've done occupied patient.floors and, belive it or not, a cardiac surgery ward, all hourly.

So with this I will share another equation.
I'm not looking for sympathy and don't subscribe to victim mentality.
I'm just sharing more of why I try to maintain health.
So I was rear ended 2 times in my truck in 1 month back in 09.
I ended up with ruptured disc's in my neck and back along with degenerative disc disease.
They wanted to do surgery on my neck.
I opted out.
I have never damage tremors in my left leg and right hand.
They come and go.
Then in 2019 I was rear-ended on my motorcycle.
Now I have a torn labrum in my hip.
Some days are better then others.
So staying fit and lean are important for those reasons alone.

I do know lots of men do trt these days.
I'm not one of them needles are my kriptonite!

Fifty is still young. However you stay fit at fifty you'll. have less issues the next twenty years, hopefully.
However like some have said injuries on the job are real setbacks and they are harder to cope with the older you get....

My doctor told me that I'm in such bad shape, if I take excellent care of myself from this day on, I'll get very sick and die....

I have been wrecked up too, Bro. Sucks, I feel for ya! What the heck is trt? Not that I'm planning on it
TRT Is testosterone replacement therapy.
So basically doctors check your levels and give you steroids legally and monitor the amounts.
More people then you think, especially ones with money or in Hollywood are on the juice.

I also beat on my body pretty much my whole working career two decades in The sawmill and 10 years as a landscape installer. But I try to take care of myself I now work at a job that keeps me very mobile and active. But I just can't seem to get in a routine of working out, it's never been my thing boring. But thanks for posting this it's inspiring me to get my butt back in gear
