steel fuel lines???

I've been here for a while now and seen a lot of pictures of 340 engine compartments. I have yet to see a solid fuel line like mine from the pump to the carb. I'm guessing that the PO might have done this becuse he had an after market AC unit in the car when I got it many years back. Have any of you out there seen one like this before? Just curious, I'm planning on changing it but I just wanted to know what is correct.

It's definitely not stock. Looks like the PO simply took a pre-flared length of steel line and chose the path of least resistance from pump to carb.
