I have heard there is a way to adjust the steering box. I have a 74 duster 318 with factory power steering. I think there is a certain bolt that can be turned for adjustment so there is less play in the steering. I figured this would be the place to ask. Thanks

If I remeber correctly there are 2 adjustment that have to be made & you can usually eleiminate alot of play unless things are just too worn.

There are two adjustments. It is best to get a service manual and follow it. Maybe someone could scan and post the pages.

My Chilton manual says;

Remove the center link from the pitman arm. Start the engine and allow it to run at idle speed.

Back off the adjusting screw until backlash is felt in the in the steering gear arm (pitman arm).
Determine the backlash by grasping the end of the arm with your fingers.
Tighten the adjusting screw until no backlash is felt, tighten 3/8 to 1/2 turn further and torque the locknut to 28 ft lbs.

AND DON"T BURN YOURSELF!
