steering coloum spring pic

here is a pic of the spring that fell out after removing my sterring wheel at first i thought it was 2 springs it now looks like its one just now in two

So it's a broken spring, is it 1/4" in dia.? What lenght? I don't recall where that could've fallen from, taking out your steering column.
I can go look in the garage, and see if I can spot something like it, under my dash. But it won't be till tomorrow. The snow is just finally stopping (I hope), got some diggin' to do.

That looks like the "return" spring that pushes the shifter handle back towards the dash on a column shift car, after you select a gear.

you know i think you got It George I do remember when I got the car the shifter would not go into park without a good push well done.that shifter is useless to me now because i plan on a B&M shifter on the floor.mant thanks.
