I have a 1970 Duster steering column (non automatic) that I'm trying to dissemble. I've taken everything out of the column including the turn signal switch, retaining plate to hold the turn signal switch in, ignition key lamp and the 3 screws that hold the bearing housing to the lock housing. My question is I can't figure out how to separate the bearing housing from the lock housing. I need to do this so I can get to my ignition switch which is in the locking housing section. It looks like when you take the 3 screws out of the bearing housing it would just separate but it doesn't. can anyone that has take these columns apart give me some advice ? Thanks in advance.

You have a shop manual?

Download one here:

Some years are not complete (missing electrical, etc,) so be sure and get the 72 manual. Some links at the top are broken, been fixed later on.

The very guy who started that thread put up an excellent pictorial on here about the column (AbodyJoe)
