I have been losing and finding these things for a bunch of years now. I see they are for sale anywhere , $17 on up up up.

I decided to try to make a set of them. Went to the Dollar store to find some plastic thick enough. The only thing I could find were these Dice. So lets give them a try.

I have not finished the fabrication, but you get the idea. Cost me $1 and my time.

I like the idea and it is inexpensive. Plus I have all the time in the world

A do not think they are shear points. They hold the steering wheel up and secure, It the wheel drops too low, the car comes out of park.

The bolts old the clips tight and allow the column to slide forward/collapse.
All part of the collapsing column system.

Well, this turned out to be a really dumb idea, it may have worked if I could find a single piece of plastic to use instead of epoxying together 2 pieces to make the correct size.
