Steering Upgrade: Rack & Pinion!

Who's got a recommendation & can the Rack & Pinion be done for less than $1000 (or better yet, for less than a Firm-Feel Box?)

Also, are there some modern-day R&P parts from say Ram P/Us, or 1980s-2000s Mopars (or non-Mopars)?

what is nice about a 1st gen dakota rack and pinion is that you can get them in manual steering also. Check car-parts.com they have some used ones on there pretty cheap. 1st gen is 1988-91
