Steering Wheel Adapter for a 1968 Barracuda ???

I recently found a 1971 or 1972 Chrysler steering wheel that I would like to put in my 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible.

The steering wheel is either called a Rallye or Rimbow ( if I am correct ). Does anyone offer an adapter plate to put this newer style (70’s) steering wheel in my older (late 60’s) Plymouth Barracuda … if so, kit or part # ?

The #’s on the back of the newer steering wheel are : # 4020F-TX … and # 73992.

The adaptor can with the 3 studs will bolt onto your 1968 steering shaft. Splines are the same. The diameter of the adaptor can will be a larger diameter than your 68 column. It will work, but have a bit of a gap you may or may not like.
 
Not sure how much wider it is. About 1/4" all the way around. So 1/2" total. Nobody to my knowledge makes a repop. Gotta find one used. The nuts that hold the wheel on look like miniature conical seat lug nuts.

I just looked up Classic Industries and they offer the ribbed can with nuts, i believe for 140. I think another company has the plain unit but i can't remember who.
 
Ribbed can is pretty long. It was used on E body cars. A body cans were only 2.5" - 3" deep. Was the same can used on LRT
 
That's the one. I didn't know there was a difference in the length, thanks i learned something today.

That A-body adapter(Tuff wheel adapter) won't fit a 68 column without a little work. They were designed to fit the 70+ columns. In 1970 the ignition switch was moved from the dash to the column. The columns had to be made larger to fit it inside.

The lower metal ring on the bottom of the adapter will interfere with the 68 column. I've seen some people remove that ring but then you have a large ugly gap between the adapter and the column. Here was my solution...

I kept the lower ring in place but had to sand the inner area so it would clear my 68 column. Then, I machined an aluminum ring that fit's on the base of the adapter. It's tapered so the transition between the small diameter column and the large diameter adapter isn't so abrupt. I saw this done on a Hemi Dart at the Mopar Nats years ago.

I remember seeing that mod. Couldent remember who did it. I was hoping you would chime in.

Make sure it has a master spline. Some of them don't. IIRC some trucks came with those adapters but didn't have a master spline. They won't fit an A-body steering shaft without one.
