Has anybody come across those perforated leather steering wheel wrap kits? I haven’t found them anywhere. Perhaps it’s an old school European thing. It comes in a roll and has a cord that wraps over it so only good for thin spoked wheels. They are different than the covers you get now.

No, they're not the vinyl wraps that split and tear after a year, they're leather lace-ups that may very well outlast the rest of your interior. I've had them on several cars in the past, and am considering doing it again on my Dakota. Worth the extra price and easy to install.

@1MeanA. I think I know what you mean. Is the link in the @Professor Fate #6 post is probably it, right. I put one of those on my Barracuda's wheel about 25 years ago and painted it green. It lasted 20 years. You can see the wheel in this picture. About 4 years ago, I bought a nice repop Wheel.

They wrap around and around the outer rim. I had one on an old European car and I vaguely remember buying one back in the 80's.

Pictures?
sorry it took so long.....the tuff wheel came off an F body and was tan. the rim is still super tight. was impossible to keep vinyl dye on the rim though.... the horn button is just hit with black SEM. if it would have had little wings every 120 degrees or so to wrap up the spokes just a little, it would have been perfect, though the vinyl dye stays on because that isn't really a heavy touch/wear surface. the outer chrome was peeled on part of the horn button, I actually used some foil duct tape and that worked reasonably well to repair....
