stock a body rearend width?

found a 8.25 on craigs with a sure grip 3.91 and new brakes for 100 bucks. its 54" wide what is stock for a A body?

My A-Body 8 1/4 was 'bout 51" backing plate to backing plate. 54" will still work though. Have you measured the spring perch width? Should be 43" for A-Body.
