Now, I understand that the oem oil pump requires a notch in the k frame to fit, but has anybody had any problems with the high volume oil pumps? I'd like to keep from going to an external oiling system, so does anything else need to be done for the hv units?

Yes. You need a hardened intermediate shaft.

Excellent, thank you. Are the dimensions of the hv pump close enough to the stocker that the notch will be about the same?

The HV pump on a big block is a good bit wider than the stock one, so I bet a bigger notch may be needed. It would also not be a bad idea to drill the pickup tube inlet in the block to hemi size and tap it to the 1/2" pipe thread size and run a larger than stock oil pan. All of that is covered in depth in the MP engine manual.
