With so many options for carbs I really dont know what to choose. I currently have a dual quad low rise single plane set up. The carbs are old and i think leak gas out of the rods for the butter flies. Looking for a more streetable setup so wanting to go with a performer rpm and they dont offer a dual quad set up for 383.
383 with voodoo cam
727 w/tight 3200 stall
3.91 8 3/4
95% street driven.
Lunati states to use a 800 cfm carb with the cam unfortunately there are not to many of those, my choices are 750 or 850.
I dont need a choke it dont get driven when it is cold enough to worry about that.
With all that said what would you choose? The street HP or Brawler.
There is a lot of debate from what i see online about what size carb to use on which engines and i think the calculators tend to under due the size needed a bit. So which size are you all using on your 383's?
I want a mechanical secondary as well.
I have always had Edelbrock and want to switch over to Holley and give them a try.
Do you need a special valley pan for the performer rpm i noticed on 440 source there is one that has a lower area for that intake?
For anyone in the market Holley has carbs on sale right now.
440 source has the performer rpm intake for $60 cheaper than summit or edelbrocks website that almost seems like one of those to good to be true things. Anyone know why that is?
They also have their own version of the performer rpm has anyone used this? If so what are your thoughts?

Get a carb with interchangeable Air Bleeds. and have secondary idle speed adjustment so you can idle off the secondaries and leave the primaries square.

In my opinion both of those carburetors are more than up to the task the HP Holly being the cream of the crop. And I can't see why a 750 wouldn't be plenty of carburetor and a good match.

A Holley type 750 would be plenty of carb for that combo.
My preference for mild combos used primarily for street use is to not go with a “race” calibrated carb.

Looking at the prices for new carbs these days, I’m glad I’m not in the market for one.

383/432 Stroker

RPM $60 cheaper - Probably how much it’s going to cost to ship compared to free shipping with the others

It’s just a taller dual plane intake - Can still use the factory valley pan or any of the Fel Pros
Just can’t run the newer FLAT valley pans that a lot of companies make

Remember hood clearance - Any linkage etc.

Edelbrock 800 AVS is no longer made

800 AVS2 is a great street carb - Idle , off idle , cruising , acceleration is awesome - Top end performance is a work in progress - Another story in higher RPMs on the highway

I have a Brand new Quick Fuel 750 DP that I want to install - Mechanical choke
To lazy to install as I know the ignition coil has to bee moved , can’t use the factory Carter AVS fuel lines , throttle linkage along with the one piece kick down rod linkage for auto transmission has to bee changed or moved - Don’t know if it will work with the factory kick down

If buying today I would have bought a Brawler 850 DP but couldn’t pass up the deal I got on the Quick Fuel Black Diamond

Of those the o.p. mentioned:
750 brawler, 100%, street version.
Then check to see if it needs to be leaned out a bit.

And I did buy a brawler, but the 850 race version.

Edit: are you sure the 440 source manifold is a real edelbrock? Chinese maybe? For your application, the Chinese manifold would be fine. Performance difference would be indistinguishable.
2nd edit: if you can find a holley factory reman you like, you might save a couple hundred bucks, and get better quality control!
