Success at Arizona National in Superstock and on to Pomona

Well Jon and Mathias lost very close races to
World Champ opponents.

I managed to win another round in the Wagon.
Not one of my best lights = .045 BUT it
worked!

This round I face John Winslow
his 8 second V10 Drag Pack Challenger
with my high 11 Aspen.

We pitted right by the fence next to the
track. We were about 100 ft. above the scales.

We are down to about the last dozen cars or so.
I leave with a nearly Two hundred (.019) advantage
on the tree. Most of the time if I am holding a couple on
the tree, I can turn on the win light!

However, my competition is dialed 8.97 and put up a perfect 8.970
on the scoreboard. I get on the brakes and close up the finish
as well as I can with 40+ MPH and over 3 second difference.
I break out by 2 Hundred and my week is over. With that MPH
difference it is like trying to catch a bullet in your teeth. I missed
something on the weather and wind, I should have been on hard
on my dial by one according to my calculations. However, the fresh engine
must still be picking up a slight amount still as it breaks in.

On to LVMS for the next three weeks and then I am done racing
until August. Eight weeks of racing and this elder guy is worn out!

Good to see you and Jon this weekend.

John Winslow ends up winning the whole shooting
match! This is his first National Race win and he beats
the very best in the class and my son's buddy Justin Lamb
who has 5 National Championship (that I remember - maybe more).
Their lights were virtually identical but John's car is virtually printing perfect
time ships all day.

Jon Jr and Justin came up through the Jr Dragster program in Vegas some
20 something years back.

Steven:
Thanks for posting pictures of both of our cars.
John took out both of cars in a single race!
