I recently purchased a super six manifold and most of the brackets. The only piece I'm missing the slotted "J" shaped bracket that goes from the carb to the kickdown. It looks like an easy part to make but I want to be sure I get the dimensions right. Specifically I'm worried about how long the slot is and how it relates to the throttle lever on the carb at idle. Any help would be appreciated.

This part is critical to the well-being of your tranny. If you need to drive the car before you find this part, then tie back your KD lever on the tranny at least half-way to the back from when it first offers resistance to movement. Then try not to exceed half throttle until you get this sorted out.

I appreciate the reply. I know it's important and I'm having a difficult time finding one, which is why I thought I'd make one if I can get exact dimensions.

I have mine on the bench, I can take some pics of it against a tape measure if that helps? I am getting ready to install it. I am missing the throttle spring bracket. can you make me one of those?

If you are that handy with shop tools. You can figure out the dimensions pretty easily.
Rule#1; When the carb is at WOT, the lower lever has to be all the way back, for long tranny life. But not so far back that it interferes with the carb going WOT.
When the carb is idling, the lever can be pretty much anywhere it falls.
The slot is there to allow the carb to return to idle, no matter where the lower lever returns to. And to allow some adjustment to soften the upshift hit in day to day driving. I would make the slot about 3 inches long. I would set it up with a very light return spring on it,and drive it.After you get it where you like it; cut the unused part of the slot off and strap it so's it can't fall off....Or just leave it if it doesn't interfere with anything.
The firewall end of the slot does not HAVE to remain in contact with the carb pin.The pin can probably land anywhere, but the sooner it hits, the sooner the line pressure will begin to rise. But above all, see rule #1.

I have a complete setup of the linkage I can photo measure and try to get some info.

Some pics against a tape measure would help a lot actually. And I will see what I can do about the bracket you need. I should be able to make that for you.
