sure grip diff. ??

This may be another dumb question but....... I have a 8.25 axle with 2.45 gear ratio in the car now. I have a cone type sure grip differential that I want to install . I have no pinion gear with it . I want to end up with a 3.55 ratio.....so do I just buy a new gear and pinion or can i figure out what i have and maybe just buy the right pinion gear.

Ring and Pinion should be a matched set. If you have just a ring gear, toss it, you'll need to buy a set.

unless you are making a tractor that will only go 2-3 miles per hour anyway....
