Sure Grip vs. Open. How to tell?

This unit is advertised as a Sure Grip. Wouldn't it have clutches or springs if it was a SG? I don't know how to tell them apart by looking at them. Can you guys educate me on this? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with 8 1/4s but it looks open to me.

In the third pic it says Trac loc, plus you can see in the holes in the same picture the friction clutches. But this is a 29 spline. If your looking to put this in a A body 8 1/4, be aware they are 27 spline axles.

Thanks. I thought it looked suspicious, that's why I asked. False advertising on that ebay ad. SG's have clutches, springs, or both?

Thanks for the pics. Those springs are not present on the one I was looking at, and that is what raised my question. Thank all of you for chiming in.

You are right on the earlier models. They were a two piece case. But then they found out how to make them cheaper and one piece.
