Swapping column and its short

took column from 73 scamp and moved to my 74 with 318, but it's short, assuming because one is manual and other power, can I extend It and use coupler from other? How hard is it to do? Thanks for any input.

Take a pipe wrench adjust it to the shaft,pull down on it and whack it into place with a sledge hammer. It will slide it down. It's redneck engineering but it works

I just needed short term fix until other car is done, changing box meant headers coming off with tight clearance, I changed coupler and shaft slid out really easy, took about an hour.
