I have a 73-76 V8 K-frame to install my 340 in my now slant six 6 cuda, and the drivers side bracket from a 75 360 Duster. Two questions: First, for the passengers side, will any spool motor mount bracket do, or does it have to be from a 73-76 V8 A-body? My local Upullit has a ton of rear wheel drive 80's diplomats and fury's with 318's. Second, I have a sway bar from a 73-76 slant six car. Will it bolt up to my V8 K-frame without any problems, or were the sway bar brackets different between slants and V-8's? I have the correct LCA's if the bar mounts okay.

thanks guys....

I dont know about the different spool mounts for a 340.
Sway bar will bolt right up, no difference there.
Steering gear and linkage is where most of the problems are found.
Good luck

ALL 73-76 A body cars used the same steering linkage and center link. The lower control arms break down as follows: WITH sway bar tabs or without them. Pretty easy.
I'm unsure of the motor mount interchange. Check out the part numbers from the www.rockauto.com site. I look there to see what parts will work for me, because many of my projects are a "Mr Potato Head" sort of thing.

I know there is two different conversion /6 K member to V8 motor mounts depending on engine displacement; 318 & 340 is one set, and 360 the other... big block is still another. I don’t have a V8 car, so I can’t tell you just what the difference is between 318/ 340 and 360 mount location or stile is.

As mentioned above, look at Rock Auto’s engine mount listings, and I bet you will figure it out.

Here is a site that shows different conversion mounts for your viewing pleasure:

The problem is I know 273's and 318's have a different mounting tab setup than 340's and 360's, which is well documented by the 67-72 crowd. However, a check of rockauto shows that all V8 engines from 73-76 take the same motor mount bracket 2325 for one side and 2326 for the other, which cannot be true...at least not without spacers. Thats my dilemma at the moment.

If you say so. I wouldn't be surprised if the ears on the block casting were changed in 73 to accomodate one type of spool mount.

The supplier of the engine mounts DO expect the buyer to add thick washers to fill the gaps. ALSO, those spool mounts from the aftermarket have thinner guage steel. The factory brackets/mounts were probably deemed overkill when the new ones were designed.
