Swinger/Scamp rubber plug on inside of door

Hey guys:

What is the purpose of the small rubber plug on the inside upper door frame just aft of the remote mirror control, other than to generate questions about it's purpose. Both doors have it and I've seen them as far back as on a 1967 Dart GT. My guess is that there is a screw behind it that is inaccessible from any other angle.

yes, there is an allen head bolt in there...

Rectangular plate and an allen screw hold the vent frame pillar in place.
