I was thinking that the light in one of those aftermarket tachs could be wired to kill the ignition instead of lighting up. Anyone tried this?

I've never used one of those tachs...

Its a bit more complicated. Most modules cut off spark to half or so to keep from accellerating. Instead of just plain killing spark like the light would, it'd just be on...or off.

Mallory used to sell one a long time ago. Just buy a good multispark box with the rev limiter. Your car will run better, too. Try the Mallory 6AL. Cheaper than the MSD equivalent and its digital, not analog.

I've got a mallory rev limiting tach with shift light and have been running it for about 20 years with no problems.I think they still make it

A freind of mine who's engine I buildt bought one about 5 or years ago but it seems now they are not being sold anymore
