One of mine was corroded and not working so I replaced it with an aftermarket socket from Rockauto. Now the light works, but I can't for the life of me get that stupid thing plugged into the tail light housing. Has anybody else had this issue? I'm thinking I may have to find a car with a good OEM socket and rob it for mine.

That sounds about normal for a one size fits most replacement lightbulb socket. If you access to an original socket it will fit just like an original socket. There are companies that sell the electrical pins, springs, and pin seperater for many of the old lightbulb sockets. So if you can find the right style you can reuse your original socket with new guts in it.

.................or you may even be able to put the guts from the new socket into the old one. Of course if the inside of the shell is badly corroded that won't work well.
