Absolute Mopar newbie here with a recently purchased 64 Barracuda that’s been sitting in an old shed for the past 30+ years. My original plan with buying the car was to flip it because the asking price was so low given the condition and originality. But........I’ve really come to appreciate the car and have gotten attached to her (don’t tell my wife!) I wish to avoid making any decisions in the resto that will negatively affect the integrity of the car. Here are a few pics. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance!

Nice find the interior looks very good. Appears that you have some rust issues. Check your frame rails really good especially the crossmember and around the upper control arms! Looks like a very good project! Keep us posted and welcome to the mopar world

Awesome car!

These are very simple and basic cars....with just basic shade tree mechanical work you'll have a car just as capable of being a daily driver as a newer car.

As for keeping the integrity of the car, 90% of changes can be reversed if you simply save the original parts.

It's just like any older Chevy or Ford....just WAYYY cooler

Thank you dartfreak75! It looked pretty sad fresh out of the shed.

Nice car and nice score. My first two cars were 65 barracudas and I still own a 65. You did a great job cleaning it up. I would suggest that you work on getting it driving down the street first. Don't take it all apart because 5 years from now you'll be overwhelmed with it and sick of seeing it around. Just get the engine running and get all the brakes working. You might want to replace all the brake lines and wheel cylinders and maybe go to a dual Reservoir master cylinder from the 68 Barracuda. Change your oil on it and see if you can get it rotating and crank it over with a little gas in it. Don't rev It Up like a lot of people like to do. Keep it under 2500 RPMs and change the oil again in a couple hundred miles. Work on the simple things first. Rebuild the carburetor if needed, change the wires and spark plugs and points and condenser, put roadworthy tires on it, put fresh gas in it and clean out the tank if needed. A lot of the body work stuff can be done while you're driving it and enjoying it. Get it motivating down the road first and you'll be happy just cruising around in it as is. Don't try to take a big bite out of it and get overwhelmed with it like a lot of us do. Concentrate on one thing at a time and get it done.
