Temperature control lever stuck

Disconnect at the heater box end and see if that frees it up. If not, your problem is in the lever assy or cable. If that frees it up, then your problem is in the box.

You're probably not going to like hearing this but you will need to remove the Heat/Ventilation slider control unit and possibly the glove box liner to access the heat and ventilation controls. There is a control valve on top of the heater box that has a cable going to the heater controls to control temperature. This is the one you need to check first. you will be able to move the control by hand to verify it is working properly. Then, disconnect the cable going to it to the temperature slide bar on the heat/ventilation control unit and see if it moves freely.

If the cable and slider control still doesn't move, the problem is in the slide control itself. I had a similar problem and fixed it by taking the slide controls out and cleaning and lubricating them. 50 plus years of dirt and grime have a way of gumming up the works!!

Shoot me a PM if you have to replace your controls. I think I have a '74 somewhere.

Thank you for the previous answers I have taken out the glove box and in this picture, looking through, just above the back end of the radio, is where I have located one end of the temp control lever, it has some metal wire wrapped around it (doesn't move from here either) and just below it to the right I see the control for the blend doors which moves but is not connected to anything. Are these two supposed to connect to each other and with what or to what? Where should the cables be/what does each end attach to? What does the part of temp slide control look like where it is stuck and I can't see? Can the cables come off on their own and where might they hide? I appreciate your insight!

P.S. forgot to mention this is an AC/heater box
Disconnect the cable from whatever it's connected to and see if the control and cable are free. If so it's the valve or whatever it's connected to.

Those metal wires actually move back and forth inside a black plastic sheath to open and close the air doors and valves. To disconnect them , remove the Phillip's screw holding the clip on at either end of the cable and slip the round eye off the post its attached to, then you should be able to move the door flaps, the valves or the controls independently. the one that doesn't move is the source of your problem.
