tension heat riser spring

stock manifold was rattling no anti rattle spring and the thermal spring had no tension on it..the tang on the thermal spring had slipped past the post..i can get it back on but how much tension is supposed to be on it..do i wrap it one turn or two before slipping the tang back over the post ..any help ...thanks ..j

Just enough to close when cold and fully open when warmed up. My guess is one.
