That about the only thing that will be the same> Banana Yellow paint

A little history first

We didn't plan on purchasing this 70 Dart 340 Swinger
We were there to purchase a parts car for the roof.
But in order to get it had to buy both
both are in sad condition, but we thought we could save the swinger, with what parts we have.

it has its original radiator
some time in its life someone changed it to a 4 speed

017.jpg

still had the factory hood pins and hood scoops

the rallye dash is going to need some metal work/repair at the bottom

005-1.jpg

We put some tires on it so we could move it around

011.jpg

the patch work on the body is really just where some one painted the spots to keep from rusting, no body damage under the spots...

bought both rear quarters
passegers side has some rot behind the wheel
and the drivers side above the wheel opening

today started to really look into what we have to work with

It always was hard to move the car around
So, thought I would look at the brakes first

drivers rear was tight, finally got the frozen adjuster to move

The pass side from hell

had to drill out the hold down pins and pry the drum out ward

001-1.jpg

Had NO WAY to loosen the adjuster finally got it apart

004-1.jpg

hey (HAY) where is the star wheel for the adjuster...
006-1.jpg

So I thought I would look it over some more

Humm , coat hanger and flex pipe exhaust
Gotta go.

011-1.jpg

So I thought I would remove the exhaust manifolds

Grab a 1/2" wrench
What, A header bolt.
come back to it later, next...

Whats this> no hex

025-1.jpg

done for the day...
just drop the whole mess out the bottom tomorrow.

on the bright side we got a fresh built 68-340 for the dart, will keep it 4 speed

0112.jpg

and BBP rear axle, using a Mustang rotors on the Front
in order to run 15"wheels

Our 70 White Dart custom donated its bumpers and valances, hood
since they are real nice and we were putting the Custom on a fiberglass diet
it was cheaper to swap parts than buy or re chrome bumpers for the swinger

in return we put the hood pins from the swinger onto the dart custom
(new pin kit for the swinger)

Awesome stuff man! Cool that you're gonna work on the four door too!

We are almost done working on the White one> I hope
(I'll make a restore post on it)

We are waiting on the front seat (being re covered)
should be ready this week

Then, when Gayle has time off
we will take it to the track
to see How it runs

It's been 10 months, since last raced.

Had major traction issue with the stroker
so over the winter, we tubbed it, added a narrowed Dana 60 with 1350 yokes and joints
added a saftey shield for the trans,
put the car on a diet.

We are ready to let the horses out..

Now, Its the Yellow Darts turn

First thing is to get a BBP rear under it, so it will roll easier

That white 4-door sounds like a sleeper from he!!

We knew the door striker was bad
(told ya they were in sad condition)

015-1.jpg

So, thought maybe get the sheet metal from the other 70 Dart that came with the yellow one

We want to align the doors and trunk
before removing the quarter panels.

well, after a few hours of trying/prying to get the door open
had to apply a little more pressure> port-a-power

got it open
No surprise its no good either

009.jpg

005-1-1.jpg

plan "B" drag the 73 out of the woods, I know it has a good door striker panel
Saw it off, then can mount it in the vice, trim it up , with the spot weld cutter

006-2.jpg

we debated about putting sub frame connectors on this project
It's just a cruiser

Well, after seeing what happens with one cut, we got the answer

this is cutting the door striker out of the 73, I thought it was going to drop to the ground....

We Will be installing connectors, before removing the quarters

your banana is in a little worse shape than my 3 speed 69.
