Still working on the 68 Barracuda. Thought I was done with much of the work until I climbed under the dash. Who put all that rust up in there? Anyway, I took off the brake pedal, sanded it down, painted it etc. My question is this, it has a tube that fits over a pivot shaft. The shaft is coated with oil/grease? Does anyone know what type of oil or grease to use? Thanks.

You can use almost any lube, but white lithium grease would be a great choice for that pivot.

Oils can/will run down the pedal arm.

(Of course it was me, I'd just grease it with wheel bearing grease)

Pure silicone brake caliper lube. Stays put and lasts. I use it for antisieze instead of the silver stuff that gets all over everything.

Thanks for the replies as this solves my problem. I anticipate returning them to the right place (never did this before). Great answers and I printed them for future reference.
