I'm going to profile mill the engine plate so it won't be ugly. :)

The first goal having the car rolling and steering by the end of January has been met and a little extra. Next goal is shakedown passes by the end of March.

 wow, thats a whole lotta work youve been doing there :) looks good. The plate on the front of the engine...is that to help stablize it(like elephant ears?)

That plate is what actually mounts the engine to the chassis. I'm going to profile mill it later to make it pretty instead of it just being a large hunk of aluminum. It will bolt through the water pump bolts and there are two bolts on each side of the down bars that it attaches to.

Whew - a lot of midnight oil going to be spent in your garage - best of luck.

He can't even burn the oil as its..25 miles away...only gas.
Looks great.

Steve

It's looking good. What do you think it will weigh when finished. This gives me an idea on what to do with a 72 challenger I've had sitting around for years and the under carriage is all rotted out. A new frame and suspension like yours, a fiber glass frontend and a big block. All I need is the time. LOL...

Just a couple pics with paint.

This weekend header construction begins. 2" tubes with a 4" collector. I plan on running some 4" pipes and mufflers so that's the reason for the oversize tubes.

A couple pics with the real engine and trans in place. The alternator mounted and the final strut support bars welded in place. The collectors are located and the flanges are on the heads. We start cutting and tacking tubes next Sunday. Hope to have at least one side done next weekend.

Thanks.

Hey 416, did you put that cowl scoop on that hood or did you buy it?

I'd like to do that for mine but I swore I'd never bond on another fiberglass scoop to a fiberglass hood. :)

Guitar.. Its a fiberglass hood...bought it that way from unlimited products..but i wouldnt recommend buying from there.. I here AAR has good quality parts, but i never bought from them. check them out. :headbang:

I just want light weight race stuff, I'm not concerned that it's perfect.

I saw those Unlimited hoods and thought about it, but damn I have a flat hood and the scoop is cheap. lol
