Like I say... The internet is a great form of communication... NOT always information..
Date code is: "257 1"
Any info would be helpful.
Thanks

Date code of "257 1" on a Thermo-Quad denotes the 257th day of 1971 or 1981. The model number of the carburetor will determine which. If it is a Thermo-Quad model for a 1972 vehicle, then the "1" = 1971. If it's a Thermo-Quad model for a 1982 vehicle, then the "1" = 1981.
Thermo-Quad Date Coding
Thermo-Quads have a date code of the final assembly date stamped on the left rear flange of the carburetor throttle base adjacent to the model number.
1971 and prior:
- Manufactured before January 1, 1971
The date code is in line with and before the date code:
The 1971 and prior date code is in the following format:
MY
Where M denotes the month of the year as follows: A=January, B=February, C=March, D=April, E=May, F=June, G=July, H=August, J=September, K=October, L=November, M=December. And where Y=the last digit of the year. Example: “H0” is August 1970.
- Manufactured during 1971
1971 model Thermo-Quads manufactured in 1971 use a format similar to 1972 and later: The model number is followed by the letter “G” which denotes the 1971 model year. The date code is on the following line.
NOTE: The “0491” might have a space: “049 1”. See the 1972 and later section for date code decoding.
1972 and later:
The date code is stamped under the model number:
The 1972 and later date code is in the following format:
DDD Y
Where DDD is the Julian Calendar number for the day of the year and Y is the last digit of the year. Example: "268 4" is the 268th day of 1974 or September 25, 1974. This code could also reflect the 268th day of 1984 or September 24, 1984. Thermo-Quad production was from 1969 through 1984, so date code years will be within this range. The model number differentiates which possible year date code is valid for that particular Thermo-Quad.
